2023 – Meet the Douro Boys II

I still don't recall how I managed to persuade the Douro Boys to repeatedly provide me with Douro Boys Vintage Ports for the open tasting over the years at the Portweinmesse and then even all the Pors for a masterclass in 2023. In the end, they all came to Leverkusen: Miguel Roquette (Quinta do Crasto), Francisco Ferreira (Quinta do Vallado), Cristiano van Zeller (van Zeller), Marco Niepoort (Niepoort) and Francisco ‘Xito’ Olazabal from Quinta do Vale Meao.
After everyone had brought a Vintage Port of their choice, the three Douro Boys Ports were tasted. With only 250-500 bottles and prices of around 1,000 euros, these Ports are rare and scarce. The Vintage Ports 2011 and 2017 as well as the freshly bottled Very Old Tawny Port could then be tasted during the fair.
A Masterclass that will probably never happen again.

As a bonus the Douro Boys Red Wines (2005, 2011, 2017 and 2021) were also available to be tasted in the open tasting.
